FAQ’s

Do you take insurance for lactation visits?
Yes! I am in-network with TRICARE and some other insurance providers. If I’m not directly covered by your insurance, I can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement.

What happens during a lactation home visit?
During a lactation consultation, I come to your home and we work in the space where you and your baby feel most comfortable. I’ll assess latch, positioning, oral function, flange sizing for pumping, and any nipple or skin issues. We’ll also do weighted feeds to see how much milk your baby is transferring. My goal is to troubleshoot challenges while helping you feel more confident.

What’s the difference between a lactation consultant and a doula?
As an IBCLC lactation consultant, I specialize in infant feeding, breastfeeding, pumping, and oral function. As a doula, my role is to provide physical, emotional, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Many families find having both is the perfect combination—support for birth and feeding, all from one provider.

Do you attend births as a doula in Columbus, GA?
Yes! I offer birth doula support at home and hospitals in Columbus, GA and surrounding areas. I provide continuous support during labor and delivery—whether you’re planning a vaginal birth, c-section, home birth, or VBAC. I have base access as a military spouse so I can attend your birth on post without the delay of getting passes.

What’s included in postpartum doula care?
Postpartum doula care is customized for your family. It may include newborn care, feeding support, emotional check-ins, light household help, and helping you get some much-needed rest. I also offer overnight postpartum doula visits if you need help getting longer stretches of sleep.

Can my partner still be involved if we hire a doula?
Absolutely! My role is to support both of you. I often show partners ways to help with comfort measures during labor, or give them space to rest during overnight visits. A doula never replaces your partner—we enhance the team.

Do you offer virtual support?
Yes. In addition to in-person visits, I offer virtual consultations for both lactation and postpartum doula support. This is especially helpful for follow-ups or quick troubleshooting.

How early should I book a doula?
Most families book doula services during the second trimester to make sure their spot is reserved. However, I also accept last-minute bookings if my schedule allows—so it’s never too late to reach out.

Do you support families who formula feed?
Yes! My goal is to support your feeding choices. Whether you’re exclusively breastfeeding, combo feeding, or formula feeding, I’m here to help you feel confident and supported without judgment.

Do you offer loss support?
Yes, I am a full-spectrum doula and provide compassionate support through pregnancy and infant loss. Every family deserves care, no matter what their journey looks like.
